Systemic Contamination Control Before Initial Start-Up

Pre-commission cleaning is a critical preparatory process conducted prior to the handover or operational start-up of new mechanical and process systems. Its objective is to eliminate residual contaminants introduced during fabrication, installation, and welding—including hydrocarbons, mill scale, corrosion products, grease, and metallic debris.

At AEKS, we tailor cleaning protocols based on:

• System material composition (e.g., stainless steel, carbon steel, copper alloys)
• Fluid dynamics and system layout (dead legs, vertical drops, low points)
• Process requirements and regulatory standards (GMP, FDA, EHEDG)

We utilize a combination of mechanical flushing, chemical circulation, high-velocity flushing, and hydrojetting, followed by deionized water rinsing to meet defined cleanliness acceptance criteria. Where applicable, pre-cleaning also includes degreasing and preparation for downstream passivation.

All operations are executed under a method statement with inspection and test plans (ITPs), including:

• Turbidity and particle count measurements
• pH and conductivity tracking
• Material compatibility review
• Documentation package with pre/post cleaning photos and logs
