Contaminant-Specific Remediation Approaches

Our remediation solutions are developed through detailed site characterization, risk assessment (RA), and remediation action planning (RAP). Based on the chemical profile and geotechnical context, AEKS applies:

• Bioremediation: Use of aerobic or anaerobic microbial consortia to degrade petroleum hydrocarbons, BTEX, PAHs, and some organic solvents
• Chemical Oxidation (ISCO): Injection of oxidants such as H₂O₂, permanganate, or persulfate for rapid breakdown of contaminants in soil and groundwater
• Soil Washing and Stabilization: Mechanical separation and/or chemical binding of heavy metals and fine particulate pollutants to reduce mobility
• Thermal Desorption: On-site or off-site treatment to volatilize and remove semi-volatile and volatile organic compounds from contaminated soil matrices
• Excavation & Off-Site Treatment: For hot spots and non-treatable fractions, with soil transported to licensed treatment or disposal facilities

These technologies are deployed either individually or in hybrid combinations, depending on depth of contamination, soil permeability, site activity, and regulatory endpoints.

In-Situ vs. Ex-Situ Programs

• In-Situ Remediation: Cost-effective and non-invasive for operational sites. Includes injection systems, bioventing, biosparging, or in-situ stabilization.
• Ex-Situ Remediation: Used when rapid results are needed or if site access allows excavation. Includes soil screening, washing, and thermal treatment at our facility or a third-party plant.

AEKS offers full-service site management, including dewatering, temporary containment, air monitoring, and secondary waste handling.

Regulatory Compliance & Documentation

Every remediation project is delivered in full compliance with national environmental regulations, EU directives (e.g., IED, Waste Framework Directive), and relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 14001, EMAS). Our process includes:

• Pre-treatment soil sampling and lab analysis (EN/ISO methods)
• Baseline and post-remediation validation reports
